light_on.gif (1045 octets) ExpressoWeb helps you creating your HTML documents:

ExpressoWeb is an HTML tool wich creates rapidly hundreds of HTML pages, links between pages, indexes and yearbooks.

point.gif (861 octets) In order to create HTML pages, ExpressoWeb needs a Data file and an HTML model file. Two sample files are provided with the program setup and are automatically loaded when you use ExpressoWeb for the first time.

The Data file can be produced with any application, like Excel®, Access®, Oracle®...
The only constraints are the ASCII format and columns of data to be separated by a symbol of your choice (semi-column as default).
Each line can have up to 98 columns, and each column can contain any type of data (date, number, HTML code...).

The HTML model file can be generated on any software. All you have to do is to open this file in a simple text editor that doesn't save any text formatting information (like Microsoft Front Page® or Netscape Composer®).
Once opened, you have to place tags inside the HTML code, in the places where you would like to put dynamic data. Each tag is related to a data file column. For exemple, if you would like to have the data from column 3 in your HTML code, you should write :
...
<!--tag3-->
comments
<!--/tag3-->
...
When ExpressoWeb find this tag in the model file, it will replace the text between the start and the end of the tag by the content of the column #3 in the data file, and it will do that for every file :
...
<!--tag3-->
"<img SRC="Xpresso2.jpg" ALT="LEON-LA-TERREUR,Tome 4, Fait des vagues" height=116 width=90>"
<!--/tag3-->
...

point.gif (861 octets) To create hypertext links, ExpressoWeb uses the same tags previouly placed inside the HTML code, and uses the tag of your choice as link criterion. ExpressoWeb is by defaut set up to creates automaticaly links between the example pages.

point.gif (861 octets) To create indexes, ExpressoWeb lists the HTML pages of a directory and uses the tag of your choice to group the pages by category.

point.gif (861 octets) To create the yearbook, ExpressoWeb needs a Data file and an HTML model file. Two sample files are provided with the program setup and are automatically loaded when you use ExpressoWeb for the first time. The principle is the same as the page creation, but this time ExpressoWeb writes only one page.
